Tools for making syntax trees
Well, seeing as I’m currently working on a morphology exam, I have had to make some syntax trees. I really don’t like drawing in stuff on my printout, because I want my diagrams to be part of the document. That can be quite a bit of work thoug, if you don’t know where to find the right tools. In the past, I have actually resorted to making my syntax trees in MS Paint. Well, no more! Why do all the work when you can get an application to do most of it for you? I present you with:
1 phpSyntaxTree
Some time ago I came across a nice little tool called phpSyntaxTree, which is a web based application that helps you make graphical syntax trees from phrases entered in labelled bracket notation. This is really a great tool that I’ve had my share of fun with. My current wallpaper is a big syntax tree, I made using this application.

2 Trees 3
This is a desktop application that helps you make syntax trees as text, that you can copy-paste into the word processor of your choice. It is quite easy to use

3 LaTeX for Linguists
And finally, if you are more into LaTeX, this is a very good tutorial written from a linguist perspective. If you don’t know what LaTeX is, it’s a markup language for documents. LaTeX is very useful, but a bit advanced, so if you don’t know your basic principles of programming, I’d stay clear of LaTeX
